Would you keep a joint account with your spouse?

Having a joint bank account with your spouse could be one of the smartest or dumbest things you ever do. That’s because in the right circumstances, having a joint bank account brings you and your spouse together and helps you both stay on the same page with respect to saving, budgeting, spending and even investing. But in the wrong circumstances, having a joint account leads to financial failure, resentment, accusations, anger and sometimes, divorce. Clearly there is a lot at stake. Which way would you go?Some of our entertainers shared their opinions as follows;

I will because I trust him – Ruth Eze, Actress

Yes, I will keep a joint account with my husband because in the first place, I trusted him and that’s why I got married to him. His money is mine and vice-versa. We belong to each other. If I can trust my future with him, why can’t I trust my money with him too.

No chance in hell am I doing that! – Seyi Hunter, Actress

No chance in hell am I keeping a joint account with my spouse. Men are the most unreliable specimen on the planet. Once he starts keeping other girls, he’ll use my money to cater for them. Some men even have children outside without the knowledge of their wives. When he dies, you’ll now see some mysterious names in his will, coming to split what’s 50% yours with your children.

It will make our relationship stronger- Yetunde Bakare, Actress

Yes, I’ll keep a joint account with him because it will enable us manage our income and expenses effectively. We will be able to carry each other along and it will make our relationship stronger.

It may create problems for us – Seaman Adah, Music Producer
I can’t because women easily get carried away with what they see. Besides, women like to be a little independent with their spending and men tend to be controlling. So, problems will develop when she has to take permission before spending money and the man doesn’t do the same.

It will help us monitor spending – Ijeoma Imoh, Actress

Of course, I can. It will help us monitor each other’s spending especially in this tough economic situation. We both must be signatories to the account, so he can’t withdraw money from it without my approval and vice versa. If the withdrawal is for a good cause, like for the family especially the kids, why not?

See world’s smallest camera loaded with big features

Currently seeking crowdfunding on Indiego, the Nico360 claims to be the world’s smallest 360-degree camera, standing just 46 millimeters tall and weighing 96 grams.
The tiny, block-shaped device from Hong Kong isn’t just small, however, it’s also surprisingly powerful, with features that make other 360-degree cameras seem lacking.

USE OF PHONE WHILE CROSSING A STREET MAY SOON BE AN OFFENCE

Using your phone while crossing the street can be a dangerous venture, particularly if you are someone who pays no attention whatsoever to your surroundings when doing so. However, it is also an activity that a city council speaker wanted to ban in the city of Toronto.
As MobileSyrup notes, the Highway Traffic Act already forbids Ontario drivers from using their mobile devices while operating their vehicles. Meanwhile, Councilor Frances Nunziata wanted to take things one step further and ask the Ontario provincial government to amend the legislation to ban phone use when crossing a street.
According to this proposal, If you are caught using a mobile device while on a crosswalk, you will be fined.

Interestingly, the motion originally forbade texting while navigating crosswalks, but Nunziata changed the wording to include banning the use of all mobile devices.
“That City Council requests the Minister of Transportation to consider making a regulation under Section 185(1) of the Highway Traffic Act prohibiting pedestrians from actively using a handheld wireless communication device or handheld electronic entertainment device while using on any travelled portion of a roadway,” the proposal reads.

Shoprite at Ilorin shuts its door after a crowd storm their store

The Shoprite located in Ilorin, Kwara State, had to completely shut its doors after a crowd of people stormed their store for the public holiday today. According to eyewitnesses, when the crowd became too much, they quickly shut their doors to prevent others from coming. However, residents of the state still eager to get in, stayed put at the door awaiting their turn. Lol. See more photos after the cut.

Fight breaks out inside Shop Rite in Adeniran Ogunsaya

Looks like a lot people trooped out to Shoprite stores for the holidays. According to a LIB reader who witnessed the fight this afternoon, it started out when the security prevented someone from picking a shopping trolley at the Shoprite store in Adeniran Ogunsanya. Apparently due to the crowd at the store, the security had no choice but to try to limit the amount of people gaining entry inside to buy things.

A staff who spoke anonymously, said this was also to prevent a recurrence of the serious theft that went down in the store when the crowd became uncontrollable yesterday. Tear gas was however sprayed at a certain point to control and chase people out.
